Fanless industrial computers overcome the data collection challenges in high humidity and high heat environments

In extremely high humidity and high heat environments, ordinary industrial computers are often "incapable of doing so", while fanless industrial computers, with their innovative design and excellent performance, are gradually becoming the "secret weapon" to cope with such complex environmental challenges, injecting new vitality into the stable development of the industrial field.

1.Customer Challenges and Demands

A well-known power equipment manufacturer plans to deploy data acquisition equipment in a hot and humid area near the equator. The on-site ambient temperature is as high as 40°C, and the humidity is maintained at 98%-100% for a long time.

The customer's original commercial equipment was unable to adapt to the frequent failures of extreme humidity, and urgently needed a compact embedded fanless industrial computer. At the same time, it was required to be configured with high-performance hardware and support the Ubuntu system, and an integrated WiFi module was required to meet the needs of remote data transmission.

II.Selection Core

(I) Keyword Locking

Based on customer needs, the SINSMART TECH engineering team quickly locked in the following selection keywords:

1.Fanless design: avoid corrosion of internal components due to the fan inhaling humid air.

2.Compact size: The on-site space is limited, and the equipment volume needs to be controlled within the miniaturization range.

3.Wide temperature and humidity tolerance: The upper limit of humidity tolerance of conventional industrial computers is 95%-98%, and the stability of the equipment under 100% humidity needs to be verified.

4.High-performance hardware compatibility: Ensure the smooth operation of the Ubuntu system and data acquisition software.

(II) Solution locking

Through the elimination method, the team first rejected the larger rack-mounted industrial computers and focused on fanless industrial computers. After multiple rounds of testing, SINSMART TECH SIN-3042-H310 became the ideal choice for this application with its IP65 protection level and wide temperature design (-10℃ to 50℃). III.Detail optimization and feedback

(I) Optimization

In response to customers' concerns about humidity, engineers further proposed two optimization measures:

1.Strengthen heat dissipation design: Adopt all-aluminum shell and thermal conductive silicone, replace fans with passive heat dissipation, and reduce the impact of humidity on heat dissipation efficiency.

2.Modular expansion: pre-installed WiFi module and power adapter to reduce the complexity of on-site wiring and reduce the risk of failure caused by exposed interfaces.

(II) Customer feedback

The final recommended configuration is SIN-3042-H310 fanless industrial computer, equipped with i5-8500T processor, 16GB memory and 512GB solid-state drive, and pre-installed Ubuntu system.

After the equipment was delivered, customers reported that it ran stably and continuously in a high-humidity environment, meeting expectations.
